Client: Amway China
The Amway China event conducted in Cairns in 2019 featured an animated Salmon as its centrepiece. This Salmon, singing two songs in Mandarin, captivated the audience while gracefully transitioning between two screens mounted on robotic arms.
The task at hand involved animating the fish with accurate lip syncing in Mandarin and orchestrating seamless swimming, dancing and leaps from one screen to another.
①. This initial model represented a Koi carp and necessitated the application of IK dynamic rigging tags to achieve the lifelike swimming motion of its body.
The following test sequences showcase the movement and tags working together.
②. The model was switched to a Salmon where I rigged the character, assigned the skin evelope to the skeleton and weight mapped the body.
